Our Founder Story

In 2022, my journey took a defining turn when I had the opportunity to work with a small, passionate choir based in Edmonton (A Joyful Noise).

They’d just received a grant to produce a video showcasing their unique story, one that deserved to reach far beyond their usual audience. From the start, I committed to going above and beyond for them, knowing that their story was one that needed to be told with depth and care.

As I immersed into their world, I was struck by the incredible voices and untold stories that were hidden from the outside world. Through the power of video, we brought their mission to life. The response was beyond what any of us expected: new singers joined, and more people attended their concerts. That project showed me just how transformative a well-crafted story can be.

Now, I’m driven by the same purpose that fueled that first project. I founded my company with a mission to uncover and share the countless amazing stories out there, as authentically and creatively as I can. Every project, big or small, is a chance to connect, inspire, and amplify the voices that deserve to be heard.

Your dream is to have your story heard—and my dream is to make that a reality.

How SKATRD came to life?

In 2023, I witnessed the city cutting down century-old trees right in front of my apartment complex. It was a wake-up call: a city without trees means hotter summers, windier winters, and a quieter environment, with fewer birds filling the air. This moment sparked a desire to document the current state of my city and explore the challenges it faces.

I quickly found like-minded collaborators in Ashlee and David, and together we formed our team—SKATRD, named after our initials. We applied for Telus's StoryHive program and were thrilled to receive a grant to bring our docuseries, Take A Risk, Edmonton, to life. Creating this series taught me invaluable lessons and solidified my commitment to producing documentaries that resonate and make an impact.
